About Us

The organization
behind Adopt Cambodia.

We're building the infrastructure, partnerships, and culture needed to make animal adoption the default across Cambodia — not the exception.

Our story

Why we started.

Cambodia has no shortage of animals that need homes — and no shortage of people who would love them if they knew how to find them. What's been missing is the connective tissue: a trusted platform, a rescue network that works together, and a public that sees adoption as a real option.

The Cambodia Humane Society was founded to build that connective tissue. We created Adopt Cambodia as the platform. We've been building the partner network, the foster community, and the educational foundation that makes the platform meaningful.

This is a long-term project. We're not trying to rescue our way out of the problem — we're trying to change the system that creates it.

Mission

Adoption as the first choice
for Cambodian families.

Our mission is to build a national adoption culture in Cambodia. That means making it easy to adopt, making it the socially normal thing to do, and making sure the animals available for adoption are healthy, well-cared-for, and well-matched to the families who take them home.

Adopt Cambodia is our primary tool for doing that — a platform where rescue groups, fosters, and individuals can list animals, and where Cambodian families can find their next companion. But the platform only works if the ecosystem around it works too.

That's why we also fund and support rescue and rehabilitation work — because animals need to be healthy and ready before they can be adopted. And it's why we invest in community education — because adoption only becomes normal when people understand what it means and why it matters.

We're working toward a Cambodia where buying a pet from a breeder is the unusual choice — and where the first instinct is to check Adopt Cambodia.

What guides us

Our values.

Systems thinking

Rescue work matters — but rescue alone doesn't change the underlying problem. We focus on the structural conditions: adoption culture, accessible platforms, and humane population control.

Local leadership

We are a Cambodian organization, built from within the communities we work in. We partner with local rescue groups and prioritize Cambodian staff, volunteers, and decision-making.

Animal welfare first

Every decision — in adoption matching, rescue support, and platform policy — is made with the animal's wellbeing as the primary consideration. We hold ourselves and our partners to that standard.

Accountability

We're honest about what we've done and what we haven't. We share our work openly with supporters and communities, and we don't inflate our impact to look better.

Our work

Three ways we
move the mission forward.

01 — Platform

Adopt Cambodia

adoptcambodia.com is Cambodia's dedicated animal adoption platform. Rescue partners and individual fosters can list animals; adopters can search by location, species, age, and size. Every listing is tied to a vetted partner or foster in our network.

We manage the platform, vet new partners, support listings quality, and continue developing features that make adoption easier and more trustworthy for Cambodian families.

02 — Rescue Support

Rescue & Rehabilitation

Adopt Cambodia only works if there are healthy, adoption-ready animals in the pipeline. We support local rescue partners with emergency response capacity, veterinary access, spay and neuter programs, and the rehabilitation care that prepares animals for adoption.

We don't operate a single central shelter — we work with a distributed network of rescue groups and fosters, strengthening the capacity of the entire ecosystem rather than building a single large facility.

03 — Education

Education & Advocacy

Adoption culture doesn't build itself. We run education programs in schools and communities, train new fosters, and produce content that reaches Cambodians through social media and local events.

We also advocate for humane animal management policies at the local and national level — because lasting change needs institutional support alongside grassroots behaviour change.
